Poppies on the green
Poppies on the Green is a community project to decorate Shirehampton in poppies each November to remember all from the Four Villages who lost their lives during WWI and WWII.
Every year we have community painting poppies sessions to make the displays and need volunteers to help with placing the work on Shirehampton Green during November and for take down later in the month. For the latest information, follow their Facebook page.
Shire pride
Shirehampton’s first ever LGBTQ Shire Pride event featured in the August 2024 edition of the local Shire paper. We received wonderful feedback from the community. “I thought it was lovely, and a very spirited community engagement and initiative. It’s been fantastic.”
For our first event we’d like to thank local businesses Ruby Jeans and paperaid.org for their support in organising the event, and to Mina Jack Tolu for their pro-bono design work. We’re aiming for it to become an annual event. If you’d like to help us with Shire Pride or have ideas for more events for Shirehampton’s LGBTQI community, email contact@shirehamptonaction.org.uk
